(ANSA) - ROME, OCTOBER 17 - Spain's public debt will reach record levels this year: the government expects it to exceed 1,300 billion in 2020 with an increase of 23% compared to 2019. It is the largest increase in the country's recent history . The news was announced by El Pais, reporting on the budget plan that the Madrid executive sent to Brussels on Thursday. The debt will go from 95.5% of GDP at the end of 2019 to 118.8% this year. By 2021, it is expected to drop to 117.4%.
In total, an invoice of around 213 billion euros of additional debt in two years. Interest payments will also grow in 2021 for the first time in nearly a decade. (HANDLE).
