(ANSA) - DUBLIN, 19 OCT - Ireland is the first European country to restore the lockdown but the schools remain open.
Irish Prime Minister Michael Martin has issued a national "stay at home" directive, but stressed that schools will remain open.
The new measures - which will take effect for six weeks from midnight Wednesday (23:00 GMT) - also include the closure of all non-essential commercial activities and limit the activities of bars and restaurants to take-away only.
