"There is no comparison. In March we were hit by a tsunami, now we have 'storms' in some areas of Italy.

In February we had a violent and immediate impact, for which no one could be ready".

The Deputy Minister of Health

Pierpaolo Siler

told Rai Radio1, host of Un Giorno da Pecora,

about his concern for the situation we see today in Italy, compared to that of last March.

"Today what we see - added Sileri - is very diluted compared to the past, and we must keep it diluted. What happened in February-March is different from what we see now: there are places in intensive care, we have many asymptomatic, there is no seriousness of access to hospitals and emergency rooms, the numbers are contained ".

"A mask should always be used in common places"

.

The Deputy Minister of Health Pierpaolo Sileri thus replies, on Radio Rai 1, to the question of whether a mask should be used in the gym, and especially in the changing rooms.

With respect to the risk associated with going to the gym, he said during an interview with Un Giorno da Pecora, "where protocols are respected is minimally dangerous".

Compared to the use of public transport, often crowded in many cities during rush hours, "my mother - Sileri specifies - advice: when you go on public transport you put a surgical mask in your right pocket and a Fpp2 or Fpp3 to left. If there are too many people you put on the Fpp2. The mask is a bit like with a sweater, if it's so cold you put it heavier ".

"

We must take into consideration the possibility of a curfew in the evening and at night in cities like Milan, Rome and Naples

and in all those areas of the country where the situation could precipitate quickly". The virologist and member of the Lombard CTS Fabrizio Pregliasco told ANSA. In his view, there is a need to "

do everything possible to avoid the lockdown at Christmas,

which, besides being very sad, would be a serious problem for schools and for work". And he explained: "This can only happen by applying the provisions contained in the new Dpcm in the best possible way and possibly implementing further restrictions, such as the curfew, even if this will unfortunately cause damage to many economic activities". Pregliasco stressed that it was impossible "to continue living as we did until yesterday", but he said he was in favor of maintaining face-to-face teaching. "Schools - he stressed - are fundamental and are a safe place, but there is a need to govern the way in which they are reached by students. And this can only be done by applying new methods for transport, such as staggered timetables. to avoid gatherings on the vehicles ".

Thanks to a face mask, frequent hand washing and distancing the flu season this year could be less intense than expected and in previous years.

Fabrizio Pregliasco, virologist and medical director of the Galeazzi institute in Milan, is convinced of this. "So far there has been an initial isolation of the flu virus, from a strain covered by the vaccine," he explains. Even though the flu viral strains, for which circulation is expected, could cause a season of medium-high intensity, "based on what happened in Australia during their winter just ended, we expect a negligible season - concludes the virologist - And 'the combined effect of masks, distancing and frequent hand hygiene ".
