The plane that landed, which will return to Abu Dhabi with several dozen members of an Israeli delegation on board, is the Etihad Green Dreamliner of the Boeing 787-10 type.
Immediately after landing at Ben Gurion Airport, the plane passed the festive clearing ceremony and in about two hours will take off back to the Emirates.
Israel and the United Arab Emirates agreed yesterday on the details of an aviation agreement between them, and the two are expected to sign it tomorrow.
According to the agreement, airlines from the two countries will operate no less than 28 weekly flights between Israel and the United Arab Emirates - 10 cargo flights.
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs expects that the flights between the countries will be implemented in a few weeks, and maybe even next month.
Last week, Etihad launched a website in Hebrew on the occasion of the agreement between the two countries.
The significance of the opening of the site stems from the company's intention to operate direct flights on the Abu Dhabi-Tel Aviv route, since the company is based in the capital of the United Arab Emirates.
The site was launched for the convenience of Israeli passengers who choose to fly with the company to Abu Dhabi and the company's many future destinations in the Far East, Europe and America.
