Health Minister Ginés González García said on Sunday that the coronavirus vaccine could be en masse in March, and that "among the seven or eight that are in the front line,

Argentina is negotiating with five

.

"

He added, as if it were a riddle, that "three of them are doing phase 3 trials in our country", and that "one will be manufactured here."

So far it's easy: Pfizer, Janssen, Sinopharm and AstraZeneca.

And the fifth?

Clarín was

able to confirm that it will be the controversial

Russian vaccine

, known as "

Sputnik V

", and that at least two jurisdictions signed contracts and await the arrival of the doses: one of them, the province of Buenos Aires.

Some of this information had been advanced to the Latin American media, in a promotional webinar organized this Monday by the developers of the Russian vaccine.

That is, the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), the Institute Bering-Bellingshausen for the Americas and the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology.

At the meeting, which was focused both on the advantages of the Russian vaccine against the developments of competing companies, as well as on the prospects for cooperation with the countries of the region, the RDIF CEO,

Kirill Dmitriev

, assured that "Latin America is an extremely important partner ”, and assured:“

We are going to confirm agreements with Argentina

and Peru, adding those already existing with Mexico, Brazil and other countries in the region ”.

Two colors, one for each dose of human adenovirus from the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine.

Later, a high local source confirmed to

Clarín

that, in effect, the Russian vaccine is among the five that will reach the country the fastest, as outlined by the Minister of Health of the Nation.

In the exchange of the webinar, starring the developers and a small group of journalists, it was suggested that

two Argentine provinces had begun

accurate

negotiations

regarding the arrival of this vaccine in the country.

As confirmed by this media, one of them is the

province of Buenos Aires

.

Although the number of scheduled doses could not be corroborated, a second source from the sector confirmed that

the agreement is closed and they are simply waiting for the departure to arrive

.

It follows, however, that before its administration it must be approved by ANMAT, the regulatory body in pharmacological matters.

Kirill Dmitriev, CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), one of those responsible for the Sputnik V vaccine.

The Russian development against Covid-19 was being questioned internationally, given the speed with which Vladimir Putin's government announced that the drug was ready, which was seen more as a political gesture than a health one.

In fact, the debate was famous in early September between Russia and a group of researchers from universities in the United States and Italy, among others, who published an

open letter

addressed to the authors of the study, where they questioned

statistical errors

in some trials of the phases 1 and 2, which had been published in the prestigious journal

The Lancet

.

Perhaps that is why this Monday's webinar placed special emphasis on the safety and efficacy of the trials carried out so far: 16,000 patients between the ages of 18 and 60 are undergoing phase 3 trials, they explained, and another round of tests will be launched in 40,000 patients older than 60 years.

The webinar with representatives of the companies that are part of the development of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine against the coronavirus.

In addition, those responsible for the vaccine assured, "

immunity

(through two injectable doses of two types of human adenovirus) promises to last between

one and two years

, unlike other similar developments, which did not achieve immunity of more than six months ”.

At the close of the meeting, Dmitriev surprised by appealing to another record.

“I want to add a human story,” he introduced, and then said: “My parents, who are in their 70s, received the vaccine.

My father

achieved very high levels of antibodies

.

It was important to them.

If you look at our website you will see that there are many scientific articles related to human adenovirus.

When they did the labs for my parents, they were very excited and calm ”.
