Two more cases of Covid at the Giro d'Italia.
After the 492 swabs carried out in the last two days, a UAE Emirates rider and a member of the Ag2r staff tested positive.
Both were entrusted to the doctors of their respective teams who ordered their isolation.
The UAE Emirates rider who tested positive, and asymptomatic, is Fernando Gaviria. The 26-year-old Colombian had already tested positive in March and had recovered perfectly. At the time, the athlete was hospitalized for four weeks. UAE Emirates said that "all other cyclists and team staff members have received a negative result" and will continue the race today. The team's medical staff "is following the situation carefully, putting in place everything necessary to ensure a safe continuation". After receiving the test result, Gaviria was immediately placed in isolation: he is in good health and completely asymptomatic ".
