On the instruction of Minister Luigi Di Maio, the embassy in Paris formally expressed to the French authorities the Italian "strong disappointment" for the measures to protect the natural site of Mont Blanc adopted by the Prefecture of Haute-Savoie and which have also affected territories under Italian sovereignty.
"These unilateral measures, which cannot and must not affect the Italian territory", Di Maio clearly indicated, according to a note from the Farnesina, "cannot have any effect and are not recognized by Italy".
In the official note sent to the French authorities - reads the note from the Farnesina - the Foreign Ministry recalled that the French side had expressed its willingness to address these issues within the mixed Commission that deals with border maintenance.
In this context, Minister Di Maio wanted to remember that Italy and France had agreed on the need to "avoid any unilateral initiative by the local authorities" on these areas.
The minister - continues the note - also asked that the French authorities be formulated with a request to intervene on the Prefecture of Haute-Savoie so that it does not include "in the official local measures the areas beyond the border falling within Italian territory and falling as such under sovereignty national team of Italy ".
