Training: the deadline to switch your DIF to your CPF could be pushed back

2020-10-22T14:43:43.933Z

Only one in four employees carried out this operation, according to the Minister of Labor. Training rights acquired under the old DIF can potentially reach 1,800 euros per person.

The Minister of Labor, Élisabeth Borne, indicated on Thursday that she would consider postponing beyond December 31 the deadline for an employee to switch his rights to training acquired under the former DIF, potentially a sum of 1,800 euros, towards his CPF account.

Noting "that

one in four employees

" only carried out this operation, Élisabeth Borne indicates that she asked her services "

to study the possibility of a new postponement

", in an interview with La Croix.

We are also going to relaunch a communication campaign, in collaboration with the Caisse des Dépôts, to remind employees of the closing date and encourage them to switch their rights.

But we are going to mobilize companies more so that they make employees aware of the subject,

”she adds.

Until December 31 in theory

An employee has until December 31 to transfer his rights acquired at the end of 2014 under the DIF (Individual Right to Training) to his CPF (personal training account), which succeeded him in 2015. He must recover his balance of hours on his payslip for December 2014 or January, or request a certificate from his then employer, and enter it in his CPF account, now available in application.

For someone who had never used their DIF, this represents a maximum of 120 hours, which have since been converted into euros at the rate of 15 euros per hour, or a potential of 1,800 euros.

Since January 1, 2019, the CPF is no longer supplied in hours but in euros at the rate of 500 euros per year (800 for unskilled employees), within the limit of 5,000 euros (8,000).

Recovering the DIF money therefore allows an employee to earn a few years to reach the limit of his CPF.

"

It is in times of crisis that we must train and strengthen their employability,

" said Élisabeth Borne, recalling that "

it is also in the interest of employers, who can top up their employees' accounts within the framework of of a training plan

”.
