Infections for Covid continue to rise in Italy: according to the bulletin of the Ministry of Health, the increase in the last 24 hours is 19,143, identified with 182,032 swabs, the highest number since the beginning of the emergency.

The total of the infected - including victims and healed - rises to 484,869.

On the other hand, the increase in victims is decreasing, 91 in one day (yesterday they were 136) bringing the total to over 37 thousand (37,059).

Of the 6,628 intensive care places available in Italy today, 15% are occupied by Covid patients, a percentage that drops to 11% if we also consider the additional 1,660 beds that can be activated with ventilators that have already been distributed to the regions.

The data is contained in the weekly report of the extraordinary Commissioner for the emergency Domenico Arcuri from which it emerges that the region with the highest percentage of patients in intensive care - compared to the places available - is Umbria, which has an employment rate at 27.85%.

Immediately after there is Campania (21.71%) and Sardinia (20.69%).

In Lombardy the percentage is 15.69% while the lowest rate is recorded in the province of Trento, with 1.96%.

ISS MONITORING

-

"The epidemic is rapidly worsening.

Measures are needed, with priority for the most affected areas, that favor a drastic reduction in physical interactions between people and that can ease the pressure on health services, including restrictions on activities non-essential and mobility restrictions ".

So in the iss-Ministry of Health weekly monitoring for the week 12-18 October 2020 (updated to 20 October 2020).

The situation in Italy shows

signs of the criticality of local services and of the "imminent achievement of critical thresholds for assistance services".

The evidence of rapidly increasing cases with a national Rt of 1.5 in its average value and significantly above 1 indicate a situation "overall and widely very serious on the national territory with the risk of important short-term critical issues in numerous Italian Regions / PA". the weekly monitoring of the Ministry of Health-Iss.

It is essential that the

population remain at home

when possible and reduce all opportunities for contact with people outside their own home that are not strictly necessary.

We remind you that it is mandatory to adopt rigorous individual behaviors and to comply with the sanitary measures set up regarding spacing and correct use of masks.

This is what the monitoring of the Ministry of Health and ISS reports in the weekly report.

This week

, outbreaks where transmission may have occurred in the school setting are increasing,

although intra-school transmission still appears limited (3.5% of all new outbreaks in which the transmission context has been reported).

However, it is clear that extra and peri-scholastic activities can trigger transmission chains if the foreseen prevention measures are not respected.

This was highlighted by the monitoring of the Ministry of Health-Iss.

There are a total of 7,625 active outbreaks, of which 1,286 are new, and for the first time in eleven weeks the number of new outbreaks is decreasing (in the previous monitoring week 4,913 active outbreaks were reported, of which 1,749 new).

"

This decrease is probably due to the sharp increase in cases for which the territorial services were unable to identify an epidemiological link. Outbreaks have been reported in almost all the provinces (106/107). Most of these outbreaks continue to occur within the home (81.7%) which at the moment represents a context of amplification of the viral circulation and not the real engine of the epidemic ".

This was reported by the weekly Covid monitoring Iss-Ministry of Health.

At a national level, there was a

significant increase in the number of hospitalized people (7,131 vs 4,519 in the medical area,

750 vs 420 in intensive care on 18/10 and 11/10, respectively) and, consequently, the employment rates increased. of hospitalizations in the medical area and in intensive care, with some Regions / PPAA above 10%.

If the trend maintains the current pace, "there is a high probability that numerous Regions / PPAAs will reach critical employment thresholds in a very short time", notes the Monitoring
