(ANSA) - GENEVA, OCTOBER 23 - A surge in infections from Covid-19 in Switzerland, where 6,592 new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours.
Switzerland, in proportion to the number of inhabitants, has significantly more homes than almost all neighboring countries, said the head of the communicable diseases division of the Health Office, Stefan Kuster, quoted by the Keystone-Ats agency.
Five times that of Germany, double that of Austria and Italy, he stressed.
For the Federal Office, Switzerland has registered 42,290 new cases in the past two weeks, with a rate of 494.9 cases per 100,000 population.
