A three-month-old baby died in North Rhine-Westphalia as a result of massive head injuries.
The boy's single father has been arrested and is on remand.
This was announced by the Duisburg police.
The seriously injured child was discovered by officials in an apartment in the north of Duisburg on October 15.
An ambulance took the child to a hospital.
The public prosecutor's office has so far been investigating the urgently suspect father for an attempted homicide.
The criminal police set up a homicide squad.
The 37-year-old is now in custody on suspicion of serious bodily harm and mistreatment of wards.
Last weekend, the infant reportedly died from his injuries.
