(ANSA) - AMELIA (TERNI), 23 OCT - The president of the Municipal Council of Amelia Leonardo Pimpinelli (Lega), who ended up at the center of the controversy for a post-sexist against Minister Lucia Azzolina, officially presented his resignations from office.
"I believe that placing my mandate in the hands of the Council is the right choice, to protect the Municipality, the Assembly that I had the honor of presiding and representing, of the mayor and the majority of his expression and of the League", reads the letter of resignation.
"I was wrong and I sincerely apologize first of all to Minister Azzolina and then all women" writes the councilor again.
"My post was definitely a mistake, political criticism must never fall into the vulgar, I provoked indignation in those who saw my sexist intent and above all created division", continues Pimpinelli, who also highlights that he had "suffered, I believe extremely, personal attacks that are outside my role ".
