Thailand: German is said to have grown and sold cannabis

Police in Thailand arrested a German in the city of Chiang Mai on charges of growing and selling marijuana.

Police found 13 cannabis plants and some containers of dried marijuana in a house rented by the man to be delivered to customers.

Tools for growing the plants, soil and fertilizer were also discovered on the ground floor of the house.

The man's girlfriend has also been arrested since she was arrested, but she denies helping grow cannabis.

The German is said to have initially worked as a boxer in Thailand, but then became unemployed because of the corona pandemic.

According to the police spokesman, "confidential investigations" should have led to the arrest. 

Thailand has very strict anti-drug laws.

Serious offenses even face the death penalty.
