Cleaning joints is usually associated with a lot of scrubbing - but with a few home remedies, the work is much easier and more effective.
Keeping the joints white in the bathroom is not as easy as one would like it to be.
Because they offer the perfect hole for bacteria and germs, which are quickly responsible for mold formation and discolour the affected areas black.
This is not only an ugly sight, but also harmful to your health.
That is why regular bathroom cleaning is an absolute must for anyone who cares about a clean home.

With this trick, joints become brilliant white
Regular scrubbing and scrubbing is a good approach to keeping the grout clean.
Nevertheless, dark spots can often not be avoided - then another home remedy has to be used:
a candle
.
After cleaning the grout for the first time, you can run
the blunt end of
a white household candle over it and get rid of the last remnants of discoloration.
This usually affects those who constantly come into contact with water.
It is particularly practical that the joints not only shine again, but
the wax "seals" the spots.
Like a protective film, it protects the rubbed-in areas from new dirt particles.
To keep it that way, you should "regrow" regularly.
You can watch the trick in the video here:
How to clean your tile joints with a steam cleaner
But not only the insider tip with the candle can help when the joints are dirty.
A steam cleaner - which, strictly speaking, is not a household remedy - also fulfills this purpose: The hot steam not only penetrates deep into the joint and removes ugly stains, but also
kills bacteria through the heat
.
The steam cleaner often has a brush as an attachment, which makes cleaning the tile joints easier and removes the dirt properly.
Then the residue only has to be wiped off.
Cleaning joints with baking soda: this is how it works with home remedies
Baking soda is also a tried and tested home remedy when it comes to cleaning joints.
According to the online portal, the miracle cure, baking soda, a mixture of the following ingredients is enough to make the tiles shine:
3 tablespoons of baking soda (soda powder), correspondingly more for a large tile surface
1 tbsp water
1 teaspoon vinegar essence
1 old toothbrush
Mix the three ingredients together in a bowl and apply the liquid to the affected grout with a toothbrush.
Let it sit for
an hour
and make sure the room is well ventilated.
Then moisten the
toothbrush with water
and powerfully remove the dirt from the joints.
Wipe it again with a damp cloth and the dark areas are gone.

Caution
: baking soda usually does not work with silicone joints.
Instead, take Javel water from the pharmacy.
Also keep baking soda away from marble or natural stone tiles, as they could lose their shine.
Grout cleaning with an electric toothbrush - this is how it works
Not only with the normal manual toothbrush and a soda paste can unsightly joints be brought back to a high gloss.
The
electric toothbrush
is at least as effective as the rotating movement of the brush attachment does a lot of work for you.
The gofeminin portal has tried the trick with scouring milk and is enthusiastic about the result.
And this is how it works in detail: Moisten an
old, discarded toothbrush attachment
that you no longer use for brushing your teeth and put
some scouring milk
on it.
With it you now run along the dirty joints with a little pressure until they are clean again.
Do not switch on the toothbrush until it is already on the wall - otherwise there will be splash marks.
And it is best to mark your grout attachment with a waterproof pen so that you don't accidentally confuse it with your current toothbrush attachment.
With soda against dirt: This is how the joints get clean
Soda has long been a favorite home remedy for dirt - it's no different with dirty grout.
To
do
this, mix
soda with water (ratio 3: 1) and a little washing-
up
liquid
and use a toothbrush to apply the agent to the tiles.
Wear gloves as
the mixture can easily dry out your hands
.
Give everything a few minutes to take effect and then rinse the grout off with water.
You can then wipe the spots with a microfiber cloth.

Clean joints with home remedies - baking soda saves the tiles
Instead of the soda mixture, however, you can also use baking powder: Mix it with water and use a toothpaste to spread the paste over the joints.
Rub the mixture well on the yellowed areas and let it work for just under an hour.
Then take a rag and wipe the tiles with a damp cloth.
Clean the joints with a dirt eraser
A somewhat time-consuming affair, but the result is quite impressive: Because
dirt
can be removed from the joints
with a
dirt eraser
as well as with other home remedies.
Simply rub off the affected areas and they are clean again.
However, you should
n't use this method too often
, as the eraser is permanently damaging to the grout.
These then begin to crumble and are more prone to water penetrating.
