Coronavirus in France: more than 45,000 contaminations and 138 deaths in 24 hours

The number of contaminations in France continues to increase every day according to the latest report from Public Health France.


While 26 million additional people have now been living under a curfew in France since this Saturday evening, the country has recorded 45,422 new SARS-CoV-2 contaminations in the past 24 hours, according to Public Health France (SPF) .

The day before, this figure stood at 42,032. This is a new record.

Also according to SPF, 138 deaths linked to Covid-19 have been recorded in hospitals.

At least 34,645 people have lost their lives as a result of the disease since the start of the epidemic.

The increase in the number of patients admitted to intensive care or intensive care continues.

This indicator is particularly observed by the authorities, who fear an influx of patients who would clog emergency and intensive care departments.

233 patients have been treated in these specialized services over the past 24 hours.

In all, 2,491 patients are hospitalized in intensive care or intensive care this Saturday, 50 more than the day before.

And they are 15,637 being treated in hospital for SARS-CoV-2 infection.

The test positivity rate continues to rise and now reaches 16%.

As for the clusters, 2,218 are under investigation.
