(ANSA) - FOGGIA, OCTOBER 26 - A criminal association aimed at illicit drug trafficking in the province of Foggia and in the nearby regions of Abruzzo and Molise has been slain by the Carabinieri as part of an anti-mafia operation that led to the execution of a custodial order precautionary measures against 16 people, 5 destined for prison and 11 for home arrest.
The operation, called 'Araneo', was carried out by the Carabinieri of Foggia coordinated by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Bari. Among the recipients of the measures also some affiliated to the so-called "SocietàFoggiana", the mafia of the Daunian capital.
The accusation is the sale of drugs, mostly cocaine, hashishe and marijuana.
The organization had weapons and munitions at its disposal, some of which were also illegally found by the shooting at Foggia.
For the investigators, at the top of the criminal group there was, already in prison for arms, Gianfranco Bruno known as 'Il primitivo', 42 years old, brother-in-law of Rodolfo Bruno, believed to be the historic boss of Foggia, killed in November 2018 in a suburban bar in a mafia ambush .
