Families of corona patients who died at the Wolfson Government Hospital in Holon are making serious allegations of severe nursing and medical neglect in the Corona ward, which allegedly led to the deaths of patients in recent weeks.

The families turned to Israel Today following Monday's revelation about the unusual complaints of nine doctors in Internal Medicine Department VI, which is in charge of the corona department, that corona patients in critical condition and respirators had died due to serious medical and nursing malpractice.

According to the doctors' complaints, the patients suffered from severe neglect after crying for hours for help and not coming to treat them.

At the same time, there is a severe shortage of medical equipment, nurses and doctors in the Corona Department and the Corona Intensive Care Unit at Wolfson.

The complaints were raised before the hospital's director, Dr. Anat Engel, the hospital's deputy director, Dr. Iris Clears, and Dr. Doron Menachmi, director of the Internal Medicine Department.

Albert Amsalem, 79, from Rishon Lezion, died last Thursday in Internal Medicine Department A, to which he had been transferred two days earlier from the Corona Department.

Amsalem was a nursing patient with diabetes and kidney disease, who contracted a violent bacterium in the hospital.

About a month ago, the family was told, they said, that he was "infected with corona from a hospital staff member."

"Until he entered the corona ward, our four children cared for him in the inpatient ward where he was hospitalized to feed my father every day, and he had great difficulty eating and literally refused to eat," says Albert's daughter, Galit Peled.

"After he was hospitalized in the corona ward we asked the nursing staff to note that he was not eating and alerted us, and we also called the ward several times a day. For weeks we were not allowed to see him at all, and a week ago we were told he recovered from the corona but he left the ward very neglected. "Extremely underweight, with a shocking look like the exploitation of forced labor."

"Our hearts are torn"

Galit notes that she also complains on behalf of her brothers Mali, Ilan and Rami, that their father "survived the corona, but died in agony and we were heartbroken by the severe neglect and failures to treat him in the corona ward. "I told her that I could no longer save my father, but at least they would take care of the other patients differently now and save them. She replied that many of them go out of their condition in a state of malnutrition."

Hannah Levy, 80, from Tel Aviv, was hospitalized in the Corona ward in Wolfson in early October and died on October 17.

"From the beginning of her hospitalization in the Corona ward, she complained that the staff did not approach her, that she shouted for hours for help and was not treated and that for hours she was without food and drink," says her daughter Alona Asraf.

Asraf notes: "I called the ward many times to present the complaints. I learned from a nurse that she fell out of bed and tied her hands and it took a long time until she was released. She had a cold and a blanket they did not give, but after a long time. We were hardly allowed to visit her, only "Once she was awake, then she was put to sleep and resuscitated."

According to Alona, "she also complained that she had to defecate on herself and was not replaced, and when she asked a nurse to go to the bathroom, she told her 'do in pants', and then for hours she was not replaced."

She adds that after her mother was transferred to Corona Intensive Care, "the doctor explained to me that in the middle of the night she underwent CPR, and asked if she could be resuscitated and said she might stay in a plant state and repeated it again. Friday night I insisted on coming in to see my mother. "Already in the middle of the resuscitation, when it was clear to me that she was already dead. All her treatment was one big mistake, right on the verge of shock."

Yosef Bracha, 65, from Bat Yam, was infected, according to the family, in Corona at the synagogue.

His son, Shai Bracha, states that he was first hospitalized, released to his home, and then hospitalized again and died on New Year's Eve.

According to Shai, because the family is not allowed to enter the ward, it is impossible to know what is happening in it and there is very severe uncertainty.

"In real time it was clear that there were not enough doctors on duty in the evening and at night, and it was not possible to get answers and information then. When we already received answers, the calls were received coldly and alienated," he says. He was treated in the last days of his life, and we now demand to know what really happened in the corona ward in Wolfson. "

Alongside the complaints, three family members of Corona patients who were treated in the ward and shared praise for the medical treatment.

One of them, Orit Granot from Rishon Lezion, wrote to "Israel Today": "My 73-year-old mother, who was hospitalized in the Corona ward in July, had only kind words of praise for the ward's conduct, the warm attitude of the nurses and doctors, their availability and the order and cleanliness of this ward. "I also contacted the medical staff several times during my hospitalization period and received a full report with kindness and professionalism. It is important to show both sides of the barricade."

Wolfson: "Tractate of Defamation"

"Israel Today" sent the Wolfson administration a request to respond to the complaints of family members of corona patients who died in the ward, and in response the hospital chose to respond that "this is another Pike News article by Ran Reznik, as part of an ongoing defamation mask at Wolfson Hospital.

He will continue to slander and we will continue to work 24/7 for our patients.

"Wolfson's medical and administrative staff work nights and nights, during the most challenging period of the medical world, and we have no leisure for Reznik, whose center of activity is defaming the medical staff."
