White shoes go with every outfit, but unfortunately the pure flower is short-lived.

Unless you clean them with toilet paper - at least that's what one trick says.

Over time, every pair of white shoes loses its purity: Instead, grass and dirt stains give the kicks a completely new shade of color.

But instead of sorting out the footwear, you should try a trick to make it clean again.

What do you need for this?

Dish soap and toilet paper *

White sneakers clean again thanks to toilet paper?

There are already a few tricks for cleaning white sneakers that can help - there is a lot to choose from, from toothpaste to dirt erasers to denture cleaning tablets.

But toilet paper should now be the latest all-rounder in shoe cleaning.

A TikTok user by the name of @raneen_btn recently presented her trick in a clip on the video platform: First, the dirty shoes are wet in the sink before a

generous amount of detergent is applied

.

With a brush, the detergent is worked into the fabric of the shoe - even in several passes - until it foams.

Then

the sneakers are wrapped in toilet paper

and put outside in the sun to dry.

As soon as the toilet paper has set, it can be pulled off - and the shoe looks like new again.

Shoes white again: does the toilet paper trick really help?

The trick works wonderfully in the video - but how does it look in reality?

Kwok Kar Peng from the online portal AsiaOne tested it and mummified her own kicks.

Her verdict: "I think they look a little cleaner - they had to do that too, with the sweaty work I put into it." She doesn't think the detergent is any more helpful than other aids, such as detergents.

Nevertheless, the tip is not bad, as a lot of dirt has transferred to the toilet paper.

"I think I'll mummify all of my white shoes from now on because every little bit helps, doesn't it?"

However, it is probably more advisable not to try out such tricks during the high phases of the

corona pandemic

, where the toilet paper shelves in the supermarkets are already being bought empty by hoarders.
