A pistol disguised as lipstick and a hidden camera in a handbag: the US auction house Julien's is auctioning off espionage equipment from the Soviet secret service KGB next year.
According to the auction house, almost 400 objects from the Cold War are going under the hammer, including a bugging device from a hotel room.
The auction is scheduled for February in Beverly Hills, California.
The objects were previously exhibited in the KGB Spy Museum in New York.
The private museum, which only opened in 2019, had to close due to the corona pandemic.
According to the auction house, the exhibits are now to be sold for up to $ 12,000.
This top price could therefore be achieved with rarities such as a rare Enigma decoding machine.
According to its own statements, the auction house also expects a number of objects to be worth only a few hundred dollars.
"It's not incredibly expensive stuff," said Julien's director Martin Nolan.
"It's amusing things that can spark exciting conversations over dinner with friends."
