Media España heads to the perimeter closure facing the Todos los Santos bridge

2020-10-27T14:16:00.535Z

Andalusia, Madrid and Castilla y León are studying the measure, currently in force in Navarra, La Rioja, Aragon, Asturias and the Basque Country

What had started timidly last week, with the perimeter confinement of Navarra and La Rioja, has turned into a trickle that can end with half of Spain closed.

After the entry into force of the state of alarm, which gives legal coverage to the communities restricting the entries and exits in part or all of their territories, Aragon, Asturias and the Basque Country joined the measure this Monday.

At the gates of the Todos los Santos bridge, Andalusia, Madrid and Castilla y León are studying it and waiting for the opinion of their technical and scientific committees, as confirmed by their regional presidents, the three of the PP.

Other regions, such as Extremadura and the Valencian Community, do not consider it right now but do not rule it out if the situation worsens.

The president of Andalusia, Juan Manuel Moreno, has acknowledged that he is "very pessimistic about the possibility of keeping the autonomous community open this weekend", in an interview on Cadena Cope.

"The number of hospitalized and admitted to the ICU makes us think that it is not a good time for there to be flows of people entering and leaving the community," he said.

"It hurts my soul, because I know that with this decision we are limiting the possibilities of restaurants, leisure, a sector that is very important to us, but I have to balance, and what we are trying by all means is not having to take tougher, more drastic measures within a month ”, he said.

According to official data this Tuesday, 2,893 positive coronavirus and 54 deaths have been registered in the last hours, the highest number of deaths in the entire second wave.

In total, there are 2,282 patients admitted to hospitals, and 282 to ICUs.

Currently, Granada and its urban belt are already under entry and exit restrictions

“Tomorrow (for Wednesday) we will decide it after listening to the experts.

We have to stop the contagions because the data, for now, are not good, "added Moreno, who has not clarified the duration of this possible perimeter closure.

His words contrast with those of the Andalusian Vice President and Head of Tourism, Juan Marín, who on Monday assured that Andalusia would not close this bridge.

Moreno has also advanced that it is very certain that the curfew schedule will be modified, currently from 23:00 to 6:00, and the start of which the hoteliers have asked to delay until 00:00.

It hurts my soul because I know it will limit the activity of many businesses, but we may have to close the community this weekend.

Tomorrow we will decide after listening to the experts.

We have to stop the infections because the data, for now, is not good.

In the Madrid government, once again, the dissensions between the members of the PP and those of Ciudadanos have once again given rise to confusion.

The vice president, Ignacio Aguado, has defended a perimeter confinement of the entire region for 15 days.

“Yes, I am going to propose the closure to the president because two bridges are coming in the region.

We have the feast of All Saints Day this weekend and the following weekend La Almudena.

On these bridges there is always a lot of mobility ”, he said this Tuesday morning in The Ana Rosa Program.

"I think it is important to restrict mobility to get to Christmas with some hope and I want the curve to keep going down."

President Isabel Díaz Ayuso spoke later during a ceremony.

“We are talking about decisions that cause damage to the economy.

Let's not forget that it is the public sector that attacks the private sector.

I don't make decisions alone.

I take into account the Ministry of Health and the rest of the regional presidents, especially those of Castilla La Mancha and Castilla y León ”, he said.

“We will have the decision and the debate on the closure between now and tomorrow.

You have to do it with measure.

But the debate must be held within the Executive, not outside ”, he stated, referring to Aguado.

The president maintains her mobility restrictions in 32 basic health areas, which affect 600,000 Madrid residents.

However, in the face of the All Saints holiday, regardless of whether you live in a restricted area or not, you will be allowed to go to cemeteries, even if they are located in sanitary areas with restrictions.

According to the latest data provided by the community, this Monday, during this weekend 3,993 new infections of covid-19 have been registered, while since Friday 102 people have died from the disease in hospitals in the region.

There are 2,588 admitted for coronavirus and 497 in intensive care units.

In Castilla y León, the possibility of a perimeter confinement of the entire region as well as between municipalities will depend on epidemiological data, such as infections or admissions in the ICU, and the evaluations of the team of experts, according to spokespersons for the Board.

The president, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, acknowledged on Tuesday that the measure is being evaluated, although he recalled that the decisions "have to be based on a scientific basis with coherence and balance."

The leader has spoken of "difficult" decisions made in recent times.

In recent weeks, perimeter closures were decreed in several locations, including four provincial capitals (Salamanca, Burgos, León and Palencia).

The Minister of Health, Verónica Casado, will meet this afternoon with experts to assess this possibility, and it will be taken into account that other nearby communities have applied this measure.

This message is in contrast to the institutional statement issued on Sunday, in which it did rule out resorting to the confinement of the community.

The Junta de Castilla y León has notified 1,378 new positives for coronavirus and another 19 deaths from this disease this Tuesday.

The figure is far from the 2,000 that have been reached these last dates but they continue to show a significant incidence of the virus
