Russia has asked the World Health Organization (WHO) for "accelerated registration" of its vaccine against Covid-19 called Sputnik V. The vaccine was announced in August by Moscow as the first in the world against the new coronavirus despite not had completed all necessary clinical trials. This was reported by the Russian Direct Investment Fund (Rdif), which finances the vaccine, taken over by the Interfax news agency. According to the Fund, which made the request, rapid registration should make the Russian vaccine available worldwide earlier than ordinary procedures.
