The Criminal Court of Eldorado, in Misiones, sentenced
María Ovando for
20 years in prison
, considering her guilty of having
facilitated the sexual abuse
suffered by a daughter and a granddaughter of hers between 2013 and 2015. The perpetrators of those attacks, meanwhile, received 18 and 12 years in prison.
The 46-year-old woman, who had come to trial in freedom, was detained after hearing the decision of the Justice.
In the morning hours of this Wednesday, October 28, judges Lyda Gallardo, Teresa Ramos and Eduardo Jourdan announced the operative part of the ruling.
There they took for granted the responsibility of the accused.
The prosecutor Federico Rodríguez had requested 22 years in prison for Ovando, considering that he also committed the crime of corruption of minors.
In his plea, he argued that the testimonies of the girls in the Gesell Chamber were irrefutable proof of the responsibility of the three defendants.
For having committed the abuses, Marcos Laurindo, María Ovando's partner, was sentenced to 18 years in prison;
and Lucas Ferreira will have to spend twelve years in jail.
Ovando, who has the
support of human rights
and feminist organizations, had been tried and acquitted in 2012 for the death of one of her daughters due to malnutrition.
