Usually the organizers choose a date at the beginning of the year, but due to the corona pandemic *, the event has been postponed by two months to be on the safe side.

German Films, the foreign agency of German film, announced some time ago which filmmakers would like to compete with their works at the Oscars.

The film-drama is about a young student (Mala Emde) who becomes part of a left and anti-fascist movement.
She becomes more and more entangled in ideologies and is soon involved in violent actions.

The jury will select five films from all submissions that have the best chance in the
“Best International Film”
category
.
According to Spiegel, the decision is expected to be made on
February 5, 2021
