(ANSA) - ROME, OCTOBER 30 - At least 6 people lost their lives following a landslide that destroyed about 60 houses in a community in the municipality of Nejapa, in El Salvador.
Interior Minister Mario Durán reported on Twitter that around 35 people are estimated to be missing.
When lafrana occurred, at 11 pm yesterday, most of the inhabitants of the community were sleeping in their homes.
"So far we have found six bodies, three men and three women," said Minister Duran.
"Due to the rain that fell during the night and early in the morning, a landslide affected about 60 houses in the community of Los Angelitos II, in Nejapa, we continue to work in this sector," he stressed.
As reported by the ElSalvador Civil Protection, in Nejapa more than 350 people are active in different points of the territory, carrying out search and rescue activities, removing debris and providing assistance to the affected families.
