(ANSA) - ROME, OCTOBER 31 - The death toll in Turkey is worsening following the strong earthquake, of magnitude 7.0, which yesterday hit the depths of the Aegean Sea, about 14 km off the Greek island of Samos.
But it is Turkey that records the worst toll with at least 24 dead and 800 injured, while in Samos the confirmed dead are two students who were overwhelmed by the wall of a collapsed building.
The strong earthquake caused a mini-tsunami with waves that overwhelmed shops and homes on the Turkish coast.
Rescuers this morning resumed digging with their bare hands in the rubble desperate for survivors.
