The Deputy Minister of Health of the Nation, Carla Vizzotti,
secretly traveled to Russia
to
learn
about the progress of the coronavirus vaccine developed by the government of Vladimir Putin and which is
one of the most advanced
.
Vizzotti traveled to test Sputnik V, the world's first registered vaccine, in August when the Russian president announced that he had won the
global dose race,
which he had even tested on his own daughter.
In parallel, this Thursday the Vice President of the Nation, Cristina Kirchner, received the ambassador of the Russian Federation, Dmitry V. Feoktistov, in her Senate office.
Jorge Taiana, president of the Commission of Foreign Relations and Worship of the Upper House, also participated in the meeting.
Although the Russian vaccine
was not included in the Government's list
initially, a few weeks ago it began to take it into account to
add it among the purchase options.
It also emerged that the objective of the Casa Rosada is to have a reliable vaccine to prevent
an outbreak of infections
in Argentina
after the summer, as is currently the case in some regions of Europe.
During the Animal Loose program on the América channel, the journalist Rosario Ayerdi specified that Vizzotti was accompanied by a
delegation made up of other national officials
, but also from the province of Buenos Aires, and that on their return the Argentine envoys trusted that the doses
they would be available by the end of the year.
"The Buenos Aires government has already surveyed the population (and calculated that the purchase of vaccines) will be
for the 40% of the population
that will need this vaccine, there are 6 million people.
They are health workers, over 60 years of age, adults who are at risk, the police and teachers, so that they can return to classes in March, ”he explained.
The
Sputnik V
is developed by the Center for epidemiological research and microbiology Gamaleya, and appears as one of the most viable options because it is in Phase 3 clinical trials and that the administration of Putin announced that
are "ready to sell the intellectual property ”
of the same.
The Russian authorities requested this Tuesday before the authorities of the World Health Organization (WHO) the pre-classification of their vaccine against the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, a key step to obtain worldwide approval for its distribution and use.
The medical journal The Lancet recently published that 100% of healthy adults participating in Phase I and II clinical trials of Sputnik V demonstrated a strong immune response against SARS-CoV-2.
Further research remains to be carried out to validate these results, while Phase III is underway in Russia and other countries.
This last stage will last six months and will have the participation of more than 40,000 volunteers.
