In contrast to the previous closure in the country, this time the retail stores, schools, hairdressers and hotels will remain open and travel within the country will not be restricted.
"These new guidelines focus on the two sources that significantly contribute to the spread of the virus - entertainment and human movement," Mitsotakis said.
"In other words, we are not talking about a complete freeze of daily life. A total closure is the last step, and it will hurt the economy and society," he said, adding that the government plan is accompanied by an emergency plan to support workers and companies.
Among the restrictions that will take effect this coming Tuesday - restaurants, cafes, museums and gyms will close.
Full restrictions in Greece:
Use a mask anywhere, indoors and outdoors.
2. Daily curfew from midnight to 5:00 p.m.
3. Distance learning in universities.
4. Prohibition of gathering in high-risk areas.
5. Closing restaurants except for deliveries and takeaways.
Most of the morbidity in Greece is focused on the northern part of the country.
Currently there are thousands of Israeli tourists who are in Greece, and most of them are in Athens.
Israeli airlines are expected to suffer heavy damage as a result of flight cancellations by Israelis who already understand that their vacation in Greece will not look the same.
In talks with some of them, they express disappointment with the Greek prime minister's decision, and are considering canceling their vacation in Athens.
Greece is currently defined by the Israeli authorities as a green state and is the only green state, apart from Rwanda, which allows tourists from Israel with an Israeli passport to enter.
