Segev Harel (26) from Kibbutz Sde Nehemia, an undergraduate student in business administration in Ruppin and another 34-year-old man, a doctoral student in immunology from a locality in the south of the country, will be the first experimenters to receive the Israeli corona vaccine developed at the Biological Institute tomorrow (Sunday).

One of them will get a sham vaccine and the other the real vaccine.

Both volunteered to be the first to get the vaccine, and underwent blood tests on Thursday prior to receiving the vaccine.

"I decided to volunteer for the experiment because I see a great privilege to help and contribute. A lot of people have been affected by the corona mentally and financially. Lost his livelihood during this period.

He said, "I have no real concerns. I'm a healthy guy, and I believe in my immune system. It's sure to be fine."

"My immediate family supported the opportunity to do this historic thing. There are those who supported less and there are more. It is my decision and the more I delve into the subject the more whole I am."

The second experimenter testified that he was waiting impatiently for the vaccine, and even stressed that there was no concern about it prior to the experiment.

As a doctoral student in the life sciences, he understands in depth the composition of the vaccine and its properties, and he firmly believes that with his participation he contributes to the advancement of the war in Corona and wishes for the success of the experiment.

Both experimenters will remain in hospital for one day only for supervision and to ensure that the trial has no side effects.

The first phase of the vaccine will last a month and will cover 100 experimenters at the two Sheba and Hadassah hospitals.

If the first day passes without side effects, the next day (Monday) 4 more participants will start the experiment - two in Sheba and two in Hadassah and a total of 6 experimenters, 4 of whom will receive the vaccine and two will receive a sham vaccine. These experimenters will remain in hospital for 8 hours. These experimenters will receive a dose at a slightly higher dose than the first two experimenters.

The safety committee accompanying the study will convene on Friday.

This is a committee where international experts, unrelated to the hospitals or the biological institute, are the only ones who know which of the participants received the real vaccine.

This committee is supposed to give the green light on Friday for further research if there is no special phenomenon and all the indices are correct.

The vaccine will then be given to the other experimental groups.

The experimenters in the first phase of the vaccine are divided into four groups - experimenters who will receive a vaccine in a low, medium and high dose and a group that will receive two doses a month apart: a first dose and an impulse dose.

"In this experiment we are advancing due to the thumb side to make sure there are no side effects. In vaccines it is customary to proceed slowly so as not to endanger people in vain. I accompanied the vaccine development and my familiarity with the details Clinical at Hadassah.

"The experiment is given in several doses because they are looking for the dose that will give an immunological response and the formation of antibodies with as few side effects as possible. In quite a few vaccines the response in the first dose does not last long and sometimes insufficient intensity and by giving another dose a month later.

"The start of the experiment is a great honor and a milestone in three ways: the tremendous effort invested by the Biological Institute in developing a vaccine in zero time, faster or the same as larger drug companies. This is an amazing achievement for the institute's scientists and volunteer 'shadow shadows' from academia and industry. "Klilot as an advisory committee. I was also a partner in planning the research. We are highly experienced in studies of international companies, but this research is exciting and I see the honor of being a partner in such a project that will give my Israeli friends a life-changing solution.
