(ANSA) - NEW YORK, OCTOBER 31 - According to researcher from Stanford University, eighteen speeches by President Donald Trump between June 20 and September 22 caused over 30 thousand cases of Covid-19.
The study also states that the comedies are linked to over 700 deaths, although the deaths are of people who did not necessarily participate in the event.
Of the 18 rallies analyzed, only three took place indoors.
"The communities where Trump has rallied have paid a high price in terms of disease and deaths," said B.
Douglas Bernheim, head of the California university's economics department and the first signatory of the study published on the open access platform SSRN.
Trump's campaign did not comment.
After the study was released, a spokesman for Joe Biden criticized the president for organizing "superspreader" events that "only serve to satisfy his ego."
