Who says dreams and nightmares can't be real?

The coronavirus pandemic changed the way of sharing social encounters, customs and traditions.

It was necessary to adapt and reinvent itself.

That same logic will be applied this October 31, in order to celebrate Halloween in a context of health emergency.

The festivity, an imported ritual but which took root in the city of Buenos Aires, will preserve its spirit and will be an opportunity to display creativity, without losing the festive spirit or good humor with the entrance of candy or trick.

This year there will be no bowling,

terror fest

or massive face-to-face shows.

In 2020, the

Halloween

celebration

will include thematic events via streaming, virtual parties, YouTube channels, marathons of horror classics such as Hocus Pocus, unpublished gastronomic proposals and themed setting in bars.

From Cotillón Ticoral Express (Lavalle 2328) they assure that although Halloween is an increasingly popular celebration in Buenos Aires,

the magnitude of sales was reduced

compared to other seasons due to the effect of the pandemic.

Among the most sought after items rank masks, costumes, cobwebs, helium balloons and dolls.

The magic of Halloween is lived in bars and restaurants

Different

bars

in Buenos Aires also join in the celebration.

They will be set with decorations of pumpkins, witches, spider webs and other horror figures.

They will attend with special precautions to avoid contagion of Covid-19.

The date can be enjoyed in the open-air spaces and in the internal rooms with a maximum occupancy of up to 25% of their capacities, depending on the characteristics of each ventilation system.

The local

Buller Pub

(Junín 1747) is one of those that will celebrate Halloween, as every year.

On a first-come, first-served basis, customers will be able to taste dishes or try drinks on the patio, on the sidewalk, or on the rooftop overlooking the cemetery.

Those who attend in costume will receive a complimentary pint.

"We will hold a raffle on Saturday 31st, where you can win a dinner for 4 people plus a

scary six pack

of Buller cans," Adrián Merino, founding partner, told this newspaper.

The night will be set to music, from the indoor hall, by the guest DJ @fedecrew.

Another proposal with live music is that of the

Hard Rock Café

(Alicia Moreau de Justo 192), which will feature a cover band.

The decoration will be in tune with the date and the staff will dress up to receive those who, with prior reservation, attend the meeting.

The novelties will be a colored drink with black sprinkles and the offer of a free plate for boys if two main ones for adults are purchased.

Heisenburger

locals

will also join in the festivities on the night of October 31st.

There will be tables decorated with lights and skulls and orange and black balloons on the walls.

In addition, employees and waiters will wear special chinstraps for the occasion.

To celebrate Halloween, the bar inspired by the Breaking Bad series invites you to try its carrot bread, which will accompany the return of Walter and Pinkman stuffed burgers.

"The proposal is to rescue these two classics, aligned with the theme, which had disappeared from the letter when the pandemic arrived," highlights Natalia Soria, in charge of the chain's administration.

Halloween is also savored at the

Hilton Buenos Aires

, which at 7pm will have a virtual party with Pretty Girls from their Instagram and Facebook accounts.

(@hiltonbuenonbuenosaires).

The event will feature the musicalization of Pato Zambrano, the DJ who became known for playing music from his apartment in Recoleta.

The best makeup, hairstyles and looks of the night will be awarded.

The Trick or Treat can be accompanied by a

Box Halloween To Go

, a gastronomic proposal to be enjoyed in the armchair at home.

The chains also joined the celebration.

At

Burger King

, until Sunday with each purchase of the Whopper® Crispy Ciboulette combo a face mask is delivered allusive to the gift date.

"As part of our commitment to caring for the health of our team and clients, we believed that it could be a good contribution to bring chinstraps to those who choose us daily," explains Luz Fochezato, Communications Manager at Burger King Argentina.

And

Starbucks

transformed one of their Frappuccinos into the Fráppula Frappuccino.

"We turned one of our most iconic drinks and turned it into a disguised character, alluding to the date," says Federico Bonino, Marketing Manager at Starbucks Argentina.

Streaming festivals on the darkest night

In line with the trend that deepened into the virtual parties pandemic, terror will take hold of the screens of this format.

Each DJ or streaming participant will decorate their own home for the live broadcast.

Requiem Club

, a cult nightclub, a pioneer in Halloween celebrations in Argentina, organized

a virtual event

with various DJs, including international ones, to keep the tradition alive.

The broadcast will be made from the Twitch platform (www.twitch.tv/requiemclub).

For its part, the Youtube channel www.youtube.com/elcanalquenoexiste, by the horror cosplayer Sebastian HorrorParty (@horrorparty), will offer a live from 20 where various exponents of terror will participate, such as Magnus Mefisto.

This year's Buenos Aires Rojo Sangre horror film festival will be virtual.

Another of the online proposals is the one organized by

Buenos Aires Rojo Sangre film festival

that this Saturday, from 6:00 p.m., will broadcast a special day on its YouTube channel that will feature a free theoretical and demonstrative workshop on FX makeup, by Dopamina de Rebis FXs from wounds and burns.

To participate you must register at this link.

In addition, there will be a special program of the Polémica podcast at the BARS.

The terrifying night will also be recreated by a live on Instagram of @cretin_movies, an intercultural space organized by Hernán X Sanchez, betting on a live makeup number and online projection of a saga of unitarians.

More proposals to celebrate terror

Freaky Clay is an

artisan ceramics startup that worships horror and pop culture

.

“For Halloween we prepare candle-holder pumpkins of different sizes, incense ghosts, cauldrons and many mugs that allude to iconic horror characters.

On October 31 at night we will do a live draw and tell horror stories on our Instagram @ freaky.clay ”, says Noelia Shvarztein, in charge of the designs.

The

Heresy Fest Online

is a multiformat festival offering a fair Gothic, fantastic and horror themed horror show more performance and heavy metal.

“The original idea was to hold the third edition in person for this October 31, but the pandemic forced us to reinvent the event.

Our offer is free and allows the viewer to visit the different social networks (@ herseyfest / herseyvideoclips) to fully enjoy the experience ”, says Leonardo Chiarenza, owner of the audiovisual production company Heresy Videoclips and general producer of the Heresy Fest Festival.

Horror Punks Argentina

used to do an indoor celebration with bands with songs focused on dark and horror themes.

“For this Halloween we decided to set up a national meeting by streaming, which can be enjoyed from 22 on our YouTube channel.

The event includes performance, makeup and costumes.

There will be a live performance and songs that each band recorded at home will be heard.

The experience will be audiovisual ”, describes Wedie Vinyard, singer of the band The Waisos.

An exhibition in streaming mode, through Instagram @ frosttoys1349,

from the workshop of sculptor Alan Frost

is another option to celebrate Halloween in a pandemic.

The artist creates from terror with a romantic matrix.

“Perhaps we are adapted to this unprecedented circumstance because we have been here since March with the lockdown.

We will see how Halloween flourishes in this innovative new incarnation, ”he says.

Costumes and celebrations at home

Enjoying a more homely Halloween is another alternative.

Micaela Vignolles, organizer of events related to the festival of Celtic origin, began to decorate her home, in the Vicente López neighborhood, since September and on her Instagram account (@ mica.vamp) she shares the preparations and curiosities of the date.

"I am going to cook allusive recipes such as pumpkin pie, a pumpkin pie, pan de muertos or juices with edible coloring and fruits carved in the shape of skulls," he says.

It will be a different celebration to share with family or friends under strict protocol.

The masks that have always given life to Halloween, will they be replaced by masks with date motifs?
