Izmir, Turkey
"Sister, I'm scared. Can you hold my hand?"
asks 16-year-old Inci Okan.
Helpers were able to save the girl and her dog from the rubble of an eight-story skyscraper in Izmir - 17 hours after the devastating quake that shook the metropolis on the Aegean coast on Friday afternoon.
Inci is one of the lucky few who was able to thank the rescue team in the hospital for their work.
The helpers were able to pull another earthquake victim out of the rubble after 33 hours: this 70-year-old man also survived.
But the work of the helpers is a fight against time and the death toll is rising.
