(ANSA) - ROME, NOVEMBER 01 - "In these days dedicated to my memory, I came here to address a thought to all the dead and among them to the victims of Coronavirus, who died in solitude. I chose to do so in this cemetery where the ignoble theft of the cross placed in memory of the victims of the pandemic. Remembering our dead is a duty that was placed side by side with that of the responsibility to continue in the commitment to fight and defeat this disease so serious, putting aside partisanship, protagonism and selfishness to unite the forces of each and every one, whatever the role and his beliefs, in the common goal of defending people's health and ensuring the recovery of our country ".

This was stated by the president of the Republic SergioMatarella after laying a wreath at the cemetery of Castegnato, in the province of Brescia, where a cross was stolen in memory of those killed in Covid.
