(ANSA-AFP) - BANGKOK, NOV 01 - Thousands of people gathered in front of the Grand Palace in Bangkok to hope to see and greet the king of Thailand, a demonstration of massive support after months of protests in favor of the reform of the monarchy and more democracy.

"We will live loyally, we will die faithfully," sang the crowd, dressed in yellow - the royal color - when MahaVajiralongkorn left the palace to greet her supporters.

"Long live the king!"

punctuated the crowd by throwing flowers to the king who signed autographs, as shown by the images released by the local media.

The monarch, who spends most of his time in Germany, has been in Thailand for a few weeks for a Buddhist party and for the anniversary of his father's death.

"We have come to show our loyalty to the king," said Bin Bunleurit, a former Thai actor.

For months, daily demonstrations by young activists have been organized in the country to demand the reform of the monarchy in force in Thailand, a rewriting of the Constitution drafted by the military and the end of the government, suspected of harassment of its political opponents.
