November is considered the month of online shopping.

As every year, the shopping spree begins with ShoppingIL, a blue-and-white online shopping initiative.

This year, this event takes on a new meaning in the face of the plague that has befallen the world.

While people were not allowed to stay away from home and businesses were forced to close the physical store, many businesses were forced to focus on the digital sales channel of the business or build one out of nothing.

Israeli surfers are invited to support Israeli businesses during ShoppingIL, a celebration that will be held for the seventh time with an expectation of over 1,600 businesses.

The ShoppingIL project was born about 7 years ago, at the initiative of Google, with the aim of promoting the local e-commerce industry, raising awareness and exposing consumers to Israeli businesses that sell online.

The venture places emphasis on providing a platform for businesses, including small businesses, to leverage their growth activity.

Google data shows that about 80 percent of the businesses participating in the sales days are small businesses with less than 20 employees.

Last year, more than half a million Israelis purchased products at ShoppingIL, in which 1,660 businesses participated.

The traffic of the trading sites that participated in the event recorded an increase of close to 160% on average compared to a normal business day.

Google notes that the shopping season is characterized by openness to new brands, which helps local businesses expand their customer base.

In 2019 about 24% of the buyers were new customers of the various businesses and stores at the event and the increase in daily sales relative to the average day was 108 percent.

Over 80% of the businesses that participated last year will take part in it this year as well.

This year, too, Google has selected a team of four local start-ups that will offer participating businesses a range of technological solutions to improve the performance of their trading sites.

As in previous years, ShoppingIL takes place in an open format that allows any online business in the country to take part in the project, with the amount of discounts, number of promotions or various deals will be under the sole responsibility of the business and will appear on the business website.

The businesses participating in ShoppingIL are not required to pay for participation or referrals from the Site.
