12 million French students respected a minute of silence in tribute to Samuel Paty, assassinated on October 16 in Conflans-Sainte

“He needed to have this because it was really horrible what we had done to him,” says Susy, 9.

This CM2 student in Bischwiller paid tribute to Samuel Paty, like 12 million French students at 11:15 this morning.

All schoolchildren, college and high school students in France took a long break at 11am to honor the memory of this history teacher from Conflans-Sainte-Honorine beheaded after showing caricatures of Muhammad to one of his classes. In many establishments, the minute's silence was preceded by the reading of the “Letter to teachers” by Jean Jaurès, published on January 15, 1888.
