(ANSA) - FLORENCE, 03 NOV - Former Senator Denis Verdini has been sentenced to six and a half years of imprisonment by the Cassazione as part of the trial for the collapse of the Florentine Creditocooperativo. The part of the conviction equal to four months for the fraud on publishing funds was extinguished by prescription. Verdini on appeal in Florence had been sentenced to 6 years and ten months.

"The Honorable Denis Verdini will not wait for any measure, he will face the situation and will turn himself up in prison". This is what his defender, lawyer Franco Coppi, reports. "I communicated the outcome of the sentence to him - continues the criminal lawyer - and we cannot hide the bitterness for the decision that came after the prosecutor had asked for a new trial". (HANDLE).
