Police arrested 388 people suspected of child trafficking in several European countries.
In addition, 249 potential victims were identified in the operations coordinated by Great Britain, Portugal and Spain as well as the European police authority Europol.
This was announced by the authority in The Hague.
The operations in the first half of October were directed against organized gangs that offer children for sexual abuse across borders and exploit them as workers or beggars.
According to Europol, children are also forced to commit crimes such as smuggling prohibited goods.
Underage asylum seekers were also among the victims
Within the EU, child trafficking mostly takes place with the help of relatives.
The human trafficking gangs are "linked by large clan networks, operate in numerous countries and move the children according to a rotation system".
Underage asylum seekers from non-EU countries are often among the victims.
61 of the identified 249 victims are minors according to Europol;
the age of more than 100 others has yet to be determined precisely.
Police authorities from twelve countries were involved, including Germany.
