A real "massacre due to pesticides" for which at least 8 million bees would have died.

For this reason, with the hypothesis of environmental pollution and damage, some associations of beekeepers have filed a complaint against unknown persons with the Public Prosecutor's Office.

This was announced by Greenpeace Italia in a post published on the website of the environmental organization.

The complaint, taken last October 30 by the National Union of Italian Beekeepers Associations (UNAAPI.), Apilombardia and Apicoltori Lombardi - adds Greenpeace - refers to a bee death which took place in August in Lombardy in the territory between the Municipalities of Azzanello ( CR), Genivolta (CR), Villachiara fraction of Villagana (BS), Borgo San Giacomo (BS).

These are municipalities straddling the Oglio river, a historically agricultural area where there were corn and soy fields - we read -, destined to become feed for animals crammed into intensive farms.

An apocalypse for these pollinators, which broke out between 8 and 12 August with the death of about 8 or 9 million bees.

Greenpeace then reveals that "the samples taken by the veterinarians of the Health Protection Agencies (ATS) and the Forest Police, called by the beekeepers, show the constant presence of two active ingredients: indoxacarb and chlorantraniliprole, substances used for various commercial formulations of insecticides, used on maize and other crops ".

"Factors such as pesticides and harmful agricultural practices" reiterates Federica Ferrario, Greenpeace Italy agriculture manager, "are helping to accelerate the disappearance of bees and insects, which perform important functions in ecosystems".

For this reason, according to Greenpeace "intensive agricultural practices must be profoundly changed, and as indicated also in the European Farm to Fork strategy (from producer to consumer) the use of pesticides in agriculture has been reduced to the point of total elimination".

Furthermore, "we need measures related to the new CAP (Common Agricultural Policy) which include new criteria and new production approaches in the agricultural field".
