(ANSA) - MILAN, 04 NOV - Next 7 December there will be no inauguration of the opera season of La Scala, at least not with the public.
The decision that was already in the air was made today during the board meeting.
The superintendent Dominique Meyer was nevertheless given the mandate to set up a 'plan B' for December 7 looking for "the widest possible audience".
For example with a live TV.
The board of directors "took note - underlines a note - that in the current epidemiological and regulatory framework there are no conditions to try and realize a production open to the public and of the level and with the characteristics required for an inauguration of the Season. The performances of Lucia diLammermoor planned for on 7 December and for the following days are therefore postponed ".
Once the hypothesis of going on stage (even if only indirectly) with Lucia, which included artists of the caliber of JuanDiego Florez, is gone, an alternative solution is sought, which is a way to make the voice of theater heard in Italy and in the world.
