The new glasses are made of linen or vegetable leather and even marble or 'stones', as long as they are made of natural raw materials.

The coolest ones have very light frames, contrasted with the thick ones that from a 'nerd' accessory have become a must-have for women and men in recent years.

Now we change and

the frames become thin

and also made of 'beta titanium' (super light and flexible), brass, copper or aluminum for models like 'pantos' (the round glasses particularly loved in the 80s thanks to iconic celebrities of the caliber by Johnny Depp and Woody Allen).

The celebrites already wear them in infinite variables and shapes, from perfectly round or square.

The world of eyewear is changing the offer and for the upcoming winter even the new lenses take into account the historical moment and the pandemic.

On the rise those '

degressive', also called 'office' lenses,

which according to the indications of the manufacturers adapt to different distances thanks to a greater depth of field (from 60 centimeters up to 3 meters).

Compared to classic reading glasses, they allow you to see well both the notes on the table, the computer screen and what surrounds us in the room without making visual efforts or assuming wrong postures for hours.

The lockdown and the prolonged hours spent in front of the screens for smartworking seem to be straining the eyes and eyewear manufacturers are taking this into account, as Fabrizio Mainardi of the Bolon brand tells ANSA.

Fashion trends and responses to the 'new' post-lockdown vision problems were at the center of Dateyewear (DaTE), the independent, artisanal and niche eyewear fair, held at the Leopolda in Florence.

“Even if in the world of independent producers the main trend is“ no trend ”, there are specific shapes, colors and materials for the upcoming winter, - comments Cristina Frasca, creator and founder of DaTE.

- Among the novelties the return of small, round, pantos, squared, oval but also angular and triangular shapes.

Even the goggles continue to be successful, but they are different masks from the 80s and 90s we are used to, with more modern shapes and flat lenses, that is perfectly flat ".

"As for the colors, - continues Frasca, - they range from the new colorful glasses in fluorescent yellow, green, orange and pink tones to those with darker shades, with tortoiseshell tones and inspired by nature such as beige, light green, pink tenuous ".

The materials, field of research and experimentation by creatives and producers, radically change.

“The use of beta titanium, magnesium, copper, brass and aluminum stands out.

Acetate and biodegradable N49 acetate continue to be widely used materials, demonstrating an ever greater attention to the environment and nature. "Among the niche materials for luxury eyewear there are those in marble, stone and horn. .

The National Association of Optical Goods Manufacturers confirms the success of degressive 'office lenses': "It is a segment that companies are undoubtedly aiming for, in light of the evolution of working methods and the increase in smart working"
