One in 10 people in the world dies from a stroke
, these deaths could be prevented if people recognized the symptoms in time and quickly went to the doctor.
The data are alarming, stroke causes 10% of global mortality, in addition, according to
Luis Manuel Murillo Bonilla
, vascular neurologist and president of the Mexican Association of Cerebral Vascular Disease (AMEVASC), to the portal 'Su Médico': "The Worldwide incidence is so high that it is estimated that
4 out of 10 people will have a stroke in their lifetime and
each year between 6 and 7 million people die from a stroke "
The expert told the aforementioned medium that very few people know what a stroke is, and for that reason they do not identify all the warning symptoms in time, the consequences are strong sequelae or loss of life, and it is that since one occurs, only there are
4.5 hours to go to emergency services
to avoid a death.

Stroke is a very acute and fatal phase of cerebrovascular disease, it is also known as a stroke or cerebral infarction.
According to Murillo Bonilla, "Stroke is defined as an acute focal neurological deficit produced by the occlusion or rupture of a cerebral artery."
María Alonso de Leciñana
, neurologist and coordinator of the Cerbrovascular Diseases Study Group of the Spanish Society of Neurology, explained to the site 'ABC', the way in which symptoms begin: "It is a disease that originates from a sudden disorder of the blood circulation in an area of the brain. When the blood does not arrive, that area loses its function. There are things that the body cannot do and those are the symptoms ".
He also explained that there are two types of stroke:
cerebral and hemorrhagic
.
The first occurs because a clot blocks an artery and blood cannot flow;
and the second when the blood vessel breaks and the blood spills into the brain.
In both cases, the symptoms are similar:
1. Sudden loss of strength or feeling in the face, arm, or leg on one side of the body.
2. Difficulty communicating through speech.
3. Sudden loss of vision in one or both eyes.
4. Headache of a greater intensity than usual and if a possible cause.
5. Difficulty walking, presence of dizziness and lack of balance.

Faced with these symptoms, it is vitally important to go to the emergency service.
María Alonso de Leciñana explains why: "When the brain stops receiving blood supply, it stops working and
every second that passes brain tissue dies
. The sooner we request medical attention, the less damage will be and the greater the chances of recovering without sequelae" .
Strokes occur in people who are over 50 years of age, and to avoid them, it is recommended: not smoking, not drinking alcohol, avoiding being overweight or obese, and having a balanced diet.
