Each week that passes brings its share of indicators that show how the first wave of the coronavirus in the spring - and its direct consequence for the economy, confinement for two months until June 11 - has affected activity.
This Thursday, the Ministry of Labor is publishing new data which further confirms the violence of the shock wave that has spread to all companies: the collapse of more than 45% of the signing of employment contracts ( excluding agriculture, temporary work and individual employers) in the private sector in the second quarter of 2020 in metropolitan France, to just over 3 million over three months.
"Hires are at their lowest level for ten years, specifically the 4th quarter of 2010,"
said Dares, the statistical service of the ministry.
Unlike at the start of the year, where significant differences were recorded, this time the drop affected all sectors of activity (not the tertiary sector more than the others)
