Jan Böhmermann on ZDF: What kind of dark power got into him?

Conspiracy theorists on Telegram are not as bad - at least not as bad as Jeff Bezos and Mathias Döpfner: Jan Böhmermann got bogged down in risky relativism in his new program.

First the good news: There are no more interviews with guests at Jan Böhmermann.

In his "Neo Magazin Royale" on ZDFneo, there was always a conversation with some TV nose or an influencer, which the moderator completed with friendly disinterest.

Some good satirical or activist main parts have been robbed of their force in this way.

That was not the case with Böhmermann's first broadcast in the main program of ZDF - on the one hand because there were no guests, on the other hand, and that's the bad news, because there wasn't a good main part that could have been robbed of its force.

What happened?

For a week now, the former Twitter cannon has been broadcasting one-liners on the Telegram news service under the name "The real Jan Böhmermann".

In rapid rhythm he sets nonsense slogans such as "What YOU see is not what I hear from", where otherwise conspiracy theorists can spread their false news and hateful messages undisturbed.

Was that the start of a larger scoop, with which Böhmermann wanted to critically examine the completely uncontrolled network?

Could we hope for an actionist criticism disguised as a conspiracy satire of the state's lack of assertiveness in matters of hate speech?

Or did Böhmermann just advertise himself?

Lots of Illuminati whispers

It was the latter, as it turned out on Friday from 8 p.m. when the "ZDF Magazin Royale" was placed in the media library in advance.

With a lot of ironic Illuminati whispers and psychotic sound effects, Böhmermann pretended that the madmen from Telegram would be dealt with right away - but then there was a juicy general criticism of Germany's super-rich.

A strange twist.

Nothing against a proper tax fugitive pounding, nothing against a proper Corona winner gossip.

But the turn from Telegram to people like Heinz Hermann Thiele, who sacked further shares in the ailing Lufthansa during the Corona crisis, or to Springer CEO Mathias Döpfner, who received shares worth one billion euros from Friede Springer, had the effect a short-circuit act to somehow let the Telegram plot, which might not have been completely thought through when it was initiated a week ago, end with a bang.

"Who actually benefits from the pandemic, the conspiracy idiots or the super-rich?" Böhmermann asked suggestively in the corona-related empty rows of viewers in the television studio: "Some are happy about coverage. And others about getting rich."

Bezos, the prince of darkness

Wash off the violence assis and the money assis in one wash - of course, you can do that.

But the jumps and hooks with which Böhmermann got from one to the other were stupid.

On the one hand, he satirically mimicked the criticism that Telegram users made of the rich elite - only to make it his own in the next breath in holy earnest.

For example in the case of Jeff Bezos, who - according to Böhmermann - would certainly have a "bathrobe made of unicorn testicle skin, sinfully expensive, but super soft".

Then he continued in holy anger: "On July 20th alone, Amazon boss Jeff Bezos earned $ 13 billion. Not until July 20th, but on July 20th, in one second Jeff Bezos made as much money as Amazon- Employees in five years, haha! ".

Then Böhmermann laughed a diabolical laugh, which was then overlaid by the diabolical laugh of the real Jeff Bezos in a single player.

The comical imitation of the conspiracy theorist furor for the purpose of the completely uncomfortable criticism of capitalism does not work.

There is a dangerous relativism in it.

Motto: What are the few hate speech criminals on the web against the Raffke criminals in their villas.

Literally Böhmermann said: "It doesn't need a conspiracy. It also runs down the drain in favor of less and for everyone else. Quite open, visible to everyone. And the crazy ones at Telegram - Halloooohhh! - are what melting icebergs and hot drought summers are for Symptoms and warning signs of a bigger problem, and the conspiracy freaks come in handy for the rich, because politics, media and society are even less interested in how they get even richer in the pandemic. "

The problem: Böhmermann's elite bashing, which was flanked with a miserable snippet parade in the style of earlier "TV total" broadcasts, may have encouraged more Telegram users than offended them.

His wit, his sharpness and his accuracy - that's all gone right now.

To mimic the conspiracy whisper he mimicked: What kind of dark power ran into Jan Böhmermann?
