Mapuches seized a church in El Bolsón and kept a priest detained

A group of hooded men occupy the Nuestra Señora de Luján parish, in the heart of that town. They claim against the eviction in Villa Mascardi.

A Mapuche group took this Friday morning a church in the Rio Negro town of El Bolsón and is

holding a Franciscan priest.

According to local media, some 12 members of the Mapuche community seized the

Nuestra Señora del Luján

parish

and beat the parish priest Ricardo Citadini, who managed to flee.

However, there remains a Franciscan named Ariel, held by the Mapuche group, who are claiming against the eviction in Villa Mascardi.

"We are talking with the prosecution, the Church authorities, to reach an agreement. Inside they caused some damage," confirmed deputy commissioner Oscar Zapata in statements to the

In place there is also the prosecutor Francisco Arrien, who seeks to reach an agreement with the protesters.
