2020-11-06T16:05:52.773Z

Traveling by train is not only ecological: it can also be very economical thanks to the different subscriptions and cards

Taking the train is an ecological and serene way of traveling: once installed in your seat, you have nothing else to do than let yourself be guided, lulled by the landscapes that pass by the window.

Preferred means of transport by those who do not want to get behind the wheel of a car, the train also advantageously replaces the plane when it comes to making trips in France and even in Europe.

There remains the question of ticket prices: while certain destinations may turn out to be a little expensive, it is still possible to reduce the price of tickets considerably by taking advantage of reduction cards and SNCF subscriptions.

Depending on your age or your situation, there are different options available to you.

How do I get an SNCF card or subscription?

Subscribing to one of the cards or one of the subscriptions offered by SNCF is a very simple process: first, you have to go to the site dedicated to these offers, and choose the one that suits you best. .

It is necessary to be eligible: the age conditions constitute the main restrictions to access a particular card.

It should be noted that the age limit is included in the validity period of the card: for example, a 12 - 27 year old card is valid until the day before the age of 28.

Once you have made your choice, all you have to do is click on "I order" to subscribe to the offer in question.

You can set the card validity start date yourself, up to three months after the purchase date.

This way you also have control over how long you can use it.

You can then collect it at an SNCF self-service terminal, or at a station counter, to use it whenever you want.

How to dematerialize your SNCF card or subscription?

If you are afraid of losing your subscription card and not being able to present it to the controller when the time comes, the solution may be to dematerialize it, that is to say to have it directly on your smartphone.

You can complete the process in a few clicks from the SNCF website, by going to the dedicated area.

In particular, you will be asked to upload a photo to the site, to associate it with your card.

You can also use the SNCF Assistant application to complete the same process entirely from your mobile terminal.

You will no longer need to carry the paper version of your subscription card when traveling: you have the freedom when you travel by train!
