(ANSA) - PARIS, 08 NOV - The pandemic breaks another barrier: around the world 50 million infections from Covid have been exceeded.

This was reported by the AFP, in its usual update based on data from health services.

In total, more than 50,010,400 cases, including 1,251,980 deaths, have been recorded around the world since the start of the pandemic in China in December.

The increase in the number of cases detected is only partly explained by the increase in the number of tests performed.

And many countries, particularly in Europe and the United States, are facing a new big wave.

Europe, with 12.6 million confirmed cases (for over 305,000 deaths), is the most affected region in the world, ahead of Latin America and the Caribbean (11.6 million cases, 411,000 deaths) and Asia (11 million cases, nearly 177,000 dead).
