Although corona is known to be a respiratory virus that harms health and the respiratory system in particular, the virus can damage quite a few other important parts of the body.

Doctors now believe that the virus can even directly infect the heart muscle and can cause other problems that lead to widespread heart damage.

This injury can occur in some sick people and it obviously does not occur in all of them.

One of the causes of heart damage is that COVID-19 reduces lung function and puts a strain on the heart as a result - which can lead to heart attacks.

Sometimes the infection with the virus causes a severe inflammatory response that restricts the heart while the body tries to fend off the virus.

Such inflammation can cause the heart arteries to close and cause a heart attack.

Another reason that is reported relatively early in the epidemic stems from the fact that the virus can also invade the blood vessels or cause inflammation within them, leading to blood clots that can be fatal in case one of them reaches the heart or lungs.

Blood clots in the body have been found in many COVID-19 patients, which has led some doctors to try blood thinners, although even today there is no consensus about this treatment.

People with heart disease are at the highest risk of coronary heart disease, but heart complications have also been found in COVID-19 patients with no known previous disease.

A recent review in the Journal of the College of Cardiology found evidence of cardiac involvement in at least 25 percent of Corona patients (1 in 4 patients).

In some cases the rate was even 30 percent or more.

And some studies have found high levels of enzymes and other signs that indicate heart damage even in patients with milder disease.

It is not known if this damage is cabbage or if it disappeared near the end of the disease.

In general, it is difficult to know what happens in the body long after recovery.

In recent months it has become clear that COVID-19 can have lasting effects, with many patients reporting persistent fatigue, shortness of breath and "brain haze" for weeks or months after their infection.

But data, especially on the effects of the virus on the heart and blood vessels, are still limited.

Some patients may experience cardiac damage and health scars, but it is important to mention that most patients with COVID-19 still recover completely.
