(ANSA-AFP) - GONDAR, 08 NOV - The Ethiopian premier, Abiy Ahmed, replaced the army chief today, just four days after his order to start military operations in the Tiger region in the north of the country against the forces of the Tigrinya territories.
The premier's office said in a statement that Berhanu Jula, the deputy chief of the army, "was promoted to head of the army", without giving a reason for the decision or information about his predecessor.
Meanwhile, hostilities continue. A doctor from Sanjia, a small town in the Amhara region, said about 100 Ethiopian soldiers had received treatment for gunshot wounds at the local hospital. (ANSA-AFP).
