Not just Prof. Grotto: From the beginning of the epidemic almost all the top officials of the Ministry of Health retired • Bar Siman Tov was the first to understand responsibility separately and powers separately, after him almost all senior management staff understood it Sadecki • The political corona

The first wave - a good sign bar retired after the peak

The director general of the ministry, who led the ministry's policy throughout the transitional government and the first wave of the Corona, was the first to retire. Bar Siman Tov, who was brought to the Ministry of Health by former Health Minister Yaakov Litzman, ran the ministry for five years until the Corona plague came. Bar Siman is a good believer in the prime minister's absolute belief, and was in fact the main authority on dealing with the epidemic.

However, immediately after the formation of the unity government and the appointment of Yuli Edelstein as Minister of Health, Bar Siman Tov announced his desire to end his term. Since returning Bar Siman Tov several times to manage the crisis, and even offered him to serve as corona projector after Professor Gamzo, it seems that the long term and the need to deal with complex political considerations were enough for Bar Siman Tov to refuse - so far - all proposals.

The second wave - Sigal Sadecki "with a hand tied behind"

Last July, Prof. Sigal Sadecki, head of the ministry's public health services, retired from the Ministry of Health.

Sadecki left in jarring tones after serving a year and a half in the position.

In a scathing letter in which she explained the motives for her departure, Sadecki attacked the conduct of the crisis in recent months in office.

"The atmosphere of treating the disease and the way decisions are made have changed fundamentally - and the results have been evident in the rise of the morbidity curve," Sadecki wrote.

"My professional opinion was not accepted. The first wave was characterized by professional and value-based leadership, which puts human life first. My feeling is that over time we have turned from professionals who respond to events proactively - to those without responsibility."

Prof. Sadecki also attacked Health Minister Yuli Edelstein And said that it “led to the opening of the economy contrary to my position.

I felt that my recommendations were being ignored.

They let me operate, but with one hand tied behind me. "

Dr. Erez On - The unfulfilled promise

Dr. Erez On served in his position as director of the Government Hospitals Division for a total of 5 months.

He decided to retire because he felt that the separation of the brigade headed by him into an independent authority had not been promoted.

The need for such an independent authority was also emphasized in the State Comptroller's report, and based on the promise to head this authority, Dr. Onn took office.

According to sources in the Ministry of Health, Minister Edelstein did not want to promote the program and therefore resigned.

Avi Ben Zaken - Responsibility without powers

Avi Ben-Zaken, senior vice president and head of the director of development planning and construction of medical institutions in the ministry, decided to retire after winning the tender for the position of vice president of development at Ichilov Hospital.

It is important to note that Ben Zaken was a key figure in the management of the corona crisis, and since March he has been at the forefront of the preparations of the entire health system in the country to deal with the virus.

At the request of former CEO Bar-Siman Tov, Ben-Zaken also served as director of the Control Center, which dealt with cutting off the chain of infections in Israel, and at the same time managed the procurement and coordination between all the various bodies. "Despite the responsibility he had - he had no real authority to manage the crisis." What happened was that he had a lot of responsibility, but he did not have the authority to guide various bodies and he had no responsibility for the information - so he decided to leave, "Ministry of Health officials said.

Maurice Dorfman - Moved to the private market

The recently retired VP of Regulation of the Ministry of Health is Maurice Dorfman, who has been appointed CFO of the Maccabi HMO. Dorfman was the VP of Regulation and Head of the Regulation, Computing and Digital Health Division.

No explanation was given for his retirement, but this is another senior who retired from the ministry in the midst of the battle for the Corona.

Shlomo Pashkus - Mass in a fight with government ministries A

day before the resignation of his boss, Dr. Erez On, Shlomo Pashkus, Vice President of the Government Hospitals Division, also announced his departure.

In media interviews he explained the retirement in the constant need to fight every decision with various government ministries, noting that although the Ministry of Health oversees the processes in relation to Corona - it has no actual control over the various executive arms.

Pashkos has been appointed VP of Economics and Finance at Rambam Medical Center in Haifa.

Dr. Oli Weinstein - moved to Clalit Health Insurance Fund

Until recently, Dr. Weinstein served as the director of the Government Hospitals Division. At the request of former CEO Moshe Bar-Siman Tov, she served as the director of procurement at the UAV, which was managed by Ben-Zaken.

She also retired from the Ministry of Health, and currently manages the hospital system in Clalit Health Services.

Eyal Besson - moved to the Tel Aviv Municipality

Eyal Besson, spokesman for the Ministry of Health for the past 4 years, also recently decided to retire.

According to his announcement, Besson (37) is moving from the Ministry of Health to the Tel Aviv Municipality, where he will serve as director of communications strategy.

Prof. Itamar Grotto - Conflict in the Economics Committee

Currently, Prof. Itamar Grotto is the last to leave the sputtering ship of the Ministry of Health.

Grotto managed the corona crisis from the beginning, and even traveled to Japan to accompany the Israelis who got stuck on the holiday ship, in an event that was in fact the marker of the onset of morbidity in Israel, where he studied the plague closely.

As the plague continued, however, Grotto found it difficult to come to terms with the intervention of political elements in the ministry's decisions, for reasons that seemed to him irrelevant.

Recently, he even broke out in a Knesset debate on MK Miki Levy, as part of a discussion in the Economics Committee about the non-opening of the B & Bs. It seems that Grotto, who has even gone on vacation in the past two weeks, is just tired of arguing with politicians.
