SPIEGEL:
You once said about your debut album that it was "a gin and tonic with your friends".
And about your second album, it's a whiskey that you drink alone.
Which drink is "Love Goes", your new album?
Smith:
"Love Goes" is a "Whispering Angel" rose.
Have you tried it before?
SPIEGEL:
Not yet.
Smith:
It's a light, beautiful rosé that you can enjoy cold.
SPIEGEL:
So "Love Goes" feels easier for you?
Smith:
Yeah.
The record is still deep and dark, but I enjoyed making it more.
I have been through a lot over the past few years trying to organize my thoughts.
"My brain has changed somehow"
Sam Smith
SPIEGEL:
You once said that your rapid ascent scared you as hell;

Smith:

I was very young when my career started and had to accept that I would have to forego some freedom.
That made me sad because I had to say goodbye to a certain amount of privacy.
